Changelog
Personal API key expiration
Date
November 4, 2026
New personal API keys expire after at most 90 days. When you create a key, choose an expiration of 7, 30, or 90 days.
Organization Admins can set shorter limits for new keys, with separate limits for personal keys and for team and organization keys. To rotate a personal key before it expires:
1. Watch for the reminder email. Baseten sends one 7 days and another 1 day before the key expires, including when the key was last used.
2. On the API keys page, choose Recreate API key from the key's menu. The new key has the same access and a fresh expiration.
3. Update your clients to use the new key, then revoke the old one.
bash
curl -X POST "https://api.baseten.co/v1/api_keys" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $BASETEN_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"type": "PERSONAL", "name": "my-laptop", "expires_at": "2027-01-15T00:00:00Z"}'Alternatively, use the --web login method to avoid using API keys:
sh
baseten auth login --web
