We’ve spoken with many of the world’s largest enterprises across regulated industries like financial services, manufacturing and telecommunications. One of their common strategic partners is Cloudera, providing them with a platform to gain valuable data insights across both on-prem and cloud environments. What these organizations have in common is that they are data-driven and the processes they’re looking to transform with AI are mission-critical. These are industries that stand to benefit the most from AI, provided they have complete confidence in controlling their data and intelligence. This is exactly why a partnership between Mistral and Cloudera is a natural way to support the demand of our joint customers and help them continue to innovate under their terms. Here’s what Mistral and Cloudera are announcing today as a part of our new partnership: Running inference in your environment: Our models will be integrated with Cloudera’s hybrid data platform, allowing enterprises to deploy their AI models across private and public cloud environments, on-prem and fully air-gapped environments while maintaining full control.

Building custom models so enterprises control their own intelligence: Mistral enables enterprises to train their AI models against large amounts of proprietary data within controlled environments. Decades of institutional data can be transformed into customized AI models while maintaining ownership over both the data and the resulting intelligence.

"Every enterprise is heading toward the same destination: specialized intelligence,” said Abhas Ricky, Chief Business Officer & GM, Applied AI at Cloudera. “General-purpose models are the starting point, not the finish line. The real advantage comes from models trained on decades of proprietary data — the loan decisions, the production runs, the network telemetry that no one else has. With Mistral, our customers can turn that data into intelligence they own outright, tuned to their business and governed inside their own environment. That’s the shift we’re building for: “from renting generic AI to owning intelligence that’s uniquely theirs.” “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to bring Mistral’s sovereign AI to Cloudera’s 30 exabytes of customer-managed data running on its platform. We are looking forward to innovating on behalf of our joint customers,” said Kamal Brar, SVP of Partnerships & Alliances at Mistral. The collaboration is designed to meet growing demand for sovereign AI: AI that keeps data, intelligence, compute, and operations under the customer's control. That means data can remain within customer-defined boundaries, models can be adapted and owned on open weights, training and inference can run on infrastructure and in jurisdictions the customer chooses, and AI systems can be deployed, governed, observed, and improved over time without ceding control of the learning loop to an external platform.
