Cohere to acquire AISLE to advance cyber-resilient sovereign AI By combining sovereign AI and cybersecurity expertise, Cohere to launch Cohere Cyber, expanding its platform to help enterprises and governments secure AI systems in an increasingly complex threat landscape
Today Cohere announced a proposed agreement to acquire AISLE, the company building autonomous systems to discover and remediate previously unknown vulnerabilities in critical software.
The proposed transaction represents another important step in Cohere's mission to build the world's leading sovereign AI platform, combining frontier AI models, agentic applications, secure deployment infrastructure, and advanced security capabilities that enable organizations to deploy AI with confidence.
It also reflects our continued investment in Europe. Following our acquisitions of Reliant AI and Aleph Alpha, the addition of AISLE would deepen our presence across the region and strengthen European AI and cybersecurity capabilities that help protect critical infrastructure, governments, and highly regulated industries around the world.
Security is becoming the defining challenge of enterprise AI As organizations move AI from experimentation to production, security has become one of the most important factors determining successful adoption.
Enterprises and governments are increasingly navigating complex requirements around data protection, governance, regulatory compliance, software vulnerabilities, and the risks associated with more autonomous AI systems. At the same time, they are looking for AI partners that can deliver the flexibility to operate in private cloud, on-premises, and fully air-gapped environments without compromising security or control.
Addressing these security challenges requires more than powerful models. It requires a full-stack approach that brings together AI, cybersecurity, governance, and secure deployment. That's why we're excited about the opportunity to bring AISLE's expertise into Cohere.
Why AISLE Founded in 2024, AISLE has developed innovative AI systems capable of discovering, validating and helping remediate previously unknown vulnerabilities in complex production software. Its approach combines increasingly capable foundation models with specialized security expertise, large-scale code analysis, rigorous validation and automated remediation.
In its first year out of stealth, AISLE discovered more than 500 previously unknown vulnerabilities assigned CVEs across more than 100 codebases, including all 12 vulnerabilities in OpenSSL's January security release and 18 of the 24 CVEs in curl's latest release . These real-world zero-day vulnerabilities are independently reviewed by the relevant software maintainers, demonstrating the growing capabilities of autonomous AI security systems.
AISLE's results also highlight an important insight: the capabilities of a foundation model and the specialized system built around it can reinforce each other. By bringing AISLE's autonomous security research closer to Cohere's frontier-model development and training, we see an opportunity to build more capable cybersecurity systems while exploring how difficult, verifiable security problems can help evaluate and improve future models.
Founders take Cohere leadership roles within newly-formed Cohere Cyber, with Prague set for expansion AISLE’s team is joining Cohere, with its three founders taking leadership roles spanning cybersecurity, corporate security, AI security research and frontier model development.
Ondrej Vlcek will become Senior Vice President, Cohere Cyber, and will lead the newly-established global cybersecurity business. Jaya Baloo will become Cohere’s Chief Information Security Officer, leading security across the company. Stanislav Fort will become Vice President, AI Security, joining Cohere’s core model research and training efforts and leading its AI security research.
Cohere also plans to make a substantial long-term investment in Prague, expanding AISLE’s existing presence and establishing the city as its global center for AI cybersecurity and autonomous security systems.
Strengthening Europe's role in the future of AI Europe is becoming increasingly important in the development of sovereign AI. Governments and enterprises across the region are seeking technology partners...
