Job Title: Forward Deployed Engineer Intern

Location: Mountain View, CA

Employment Type: Full-time Internship

Internship Duration: 3 months, with possibility to extend

Work Arrangement: On-site, Monday - Friday

About the Role

Join the team at Baidu USA and help developers and companies build AI applications powered by real-time web search.

We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern who can bridge the gap between our technology and the customers building with it. You’ll work directly with customers to understand their use cases, design solutions, build prototypes, troubleshoot integrations, and help move applications from early testing to production.

This is a full-time, on-site internship based in the Bay Area. The initial internship period is 3 months, with the possibility to extend based on performance and business needs.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role. You should be comfortable writing code, working with APIs, debugging technical issues, and communicating directly with customers. You’ll also work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Business teams to bring customer feedback back into the product.

What You’ll Do

Work directly with customers to understand their technical requirements, architecture, and use cases.

Help customers integrate Querit Search API into AI agents, RAG systems, research tools, and other AI applications.

Build demos, prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and reference implementations for customer use cases.

Debug technical issues across API integrations and help customers move from evaluation to production.

Advise customers on search quality, latency, retrieval strategies, and integration best practices.

Partner with Product and Engineering to identify recurring customer needs, technical blockers, and opportunities to improve the product.

Create reusable sample code, integration guides, demos, and technical documentation.

Work closely with the business team during technical evaluations, customer onboarding, and deployment.

Communicate with developers, founders, and engineering teams during customer-facing technical discussions.

What We’re Looking For

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or a similar language.

Experience working with REST APIs, backend systems, or web applications.

Familiarity with modern AI application stacks, including LLMs, RAG, agents, or retrieval systems.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug technical issues independently.

Comfortable communicating directly with customers and explaining technical concepts clearly.

Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven working style.

Able to work full-time and on-site from our Bay Area office for at least 3 months.

Nice to Have

Previous software engineering, AI, or technical internship experience.

Experience building AI agents, RAG pipelines, search, or retrieval systems.

Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, OpenAI SDKs, or similar tools.

Experience with developer tools, APIs, AI infrastructure, or enterprise software.

Experience building and shipping side projects, hackathon projects, or production applications.
